Ibtihaj Muhammed set to speak at SMU’s 50th Anniversary Women’s Symposium March 7

Ibtihaj Muhammed set to speak at SMUs 50th Anniversary Womens Symposium March 7

It’s that time of year! Register today for SMU’s 50th Anniversary Women’s Symposium. On March 7, SMU will be celebrating the accomplishments of influential women who have left their footprint on the city of Dallas. Join us for a day full of interesting events.

According to their website, the Women’s Symposium is the longest continuously running program of its nature in the country, and one of SMU’s oldest traditions. The annual gathering brings women and men of all backgrounds together to explore topics of national interest. The primary goal of the event is to encourage women to develop leadership skills within a multiethnic model. What better way to encourage women than by interacting with the women who have succeeded in leadership roles themselves?

Every year SMU welcomes nationally recognized speakers to join the Symposium. This year, Olympic fencer and bronze medalist Ibtihaj Muhammed, who is the first female Muslim-American athlete to medal at the Olympics, will be speaking. She will be discussing her stereotype-busting triumphant journey. Her story inspires others to confront societal standards and take control of their own paths.

So grab your girl squad and register for this empowering
event here.
