The Office of the President released an official statement Thursday afternoon that all classes will transition online for the first two weeks after spring break from March 23 to April 5. Classes are expected to resume as usual Monday April 6.

The campus and residence halls will remain open and operational according to the statement from SMU. President Turner’s official statement said that “international and other students who need to remain living in the residence halls need to request approval from the Office of Residence Life and Student Housing to stay on campus.”

“Faculty and staff should plan to report to campus as usual during this entire period,” the emailed statement said. Courses that cannot be taught online will be evaluated individually.

SMU is also cancelling or postponing all campus gatherings with more than 50 people until the end of April. However, Commencement Convocation is still expected to take place May 16.

These decisions are subject to change as the coronavirus pandemic continues to evolve. For more updates and information, follow @thedailycampus on Twitter.
