RECAP: SMU loses 58-6 to Texas A&M

It didn’t take long for Texas A&M; to establish itself as the better team during Saturday’s 58-6 win over SMU.

By the end of the first half, the Aggies were already up 38-3 and had already compiled over 430 total offensive yards compared to SMU’s 63.

Texas A&M;’s star quarterback Kenny Hill only played during the first half, but put up some impressive numbers- finishing the day with 265 yards in the air on 12-22 passing with two touchdowns, an interception and 57 rushing yards.

The Mustangs did manage to force Hill’s first career interception- thanks to a diving effort from defensive back Shakiel Randolph.

SMU struggled from the onset and could not even manage positive yardage during the first quarter; at the end of the first quarter A&M; already had 254 yards compared to SMU’s negative eight total yards.

The Mustangs also struggled to stop Texas A&M; running back Trey Williams in the second half. Williams rushed for 66 yards and two touchdowns on just seven carries.

SMU wide receiver Der’rikk Thompson had the best day for the Mustangs. He finished the day with 3 catches for 72 yards.

Even though Hill sat the entirety of the second half, Texas A&M; continued to pound SMU. The Aggies finished the game with 663 total yards while SMU amassed a measly 241.
