Weekend outlook: conference championships and spring football

Friday, April 17:

Swimming: Both the men’s and women’s swimming teams will travel to Mesa, Ariz. for the Mesa Grand Prix.

Women’s track and field: The women’s track and field team travels to California this weekend for the 57th-annual Mt. San Antonio College Relays at Hilmer Lodge Stadium in Walnut, Calif. Four of the top ten women’s collegiate track and field teams will be represented at the meet.

Men’s tennis: The fourth-seeded Mustangs will begin play at the American Athletic Conference Men’s Tennis Championship against fifth-seed Memphis at 9 a.m. at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center at the University of Tulsa. Last season, in the inaugural AAC Championship, SMU lost to Memphis in the semifinals.

Women’s tennis: SMU will take on the top-seeded Houston Cougars in the semifinals of the AAC Championship at 12 p.m., also at the University of Tulsa. The Cougars won the regular season matchup with the Mustangs, 4-0, in Houston.

Saturday, April 18:

Swimming: The Mesa Grand Prix continues for both the men’s and women’s swimming teams.

Women’s track and field: The Mustangs will continue in the competition at the Mt. San Antonio College Relays.

Men’s tennis: If the Mustangs defeat Memphis on Friday, they will advance to the semifinal round of the AAC Championship, which will take place on Saturday at 9 a.m.

Women’s rowing: SMU will host the Tulsa Golden Hurricane for the fourth annual Lawless Cup on Saturday at White Rock Lake. The event will serve as senior day for seven Mustangs and will begin at 8:15 a.m.

Football: SMU will have its annual spring football game at Ford Stadium at 1 p.m. The players are divided into two teams that will scrimmage each other in a game-like atmosphere. The gates will open at noon and admission to the game is free.

Women’s soccer: The Mustangs will travel to San Marcos, Texas to take on the Texas State Bobcats at 1 p.m. It will be SMU’s first and only road match of the spring season.

Sunday, April 19:

Women’s golf: SMU heads to the Hammock Beach Resort in Palm Coast, Fla. for the AAC Championship. The tournament will begin Sunday and finish on Tuesday.

Men’s tennis: If the Mustangs get a victory on Saturday, they will compete for the AAC Championship title at 12 p.m. on Sunday.
