The American Athletic Conference Track and Field Meet will be held May 10-12 in Wichita, Kan., and SMU Track and Field athletes are preparing to win conference titles.
Several members of the team are in a position to bring home medals from the meet. Chelsea Francis is currently leading the conference in both the 100 and 200 meters.

Hannah Miller is also ranked first in the conference in two events, the 5k and 10k, with her teammate Svenja Ojstersek not far behind her.
“I want to win the 100 and 200 and set conference records in both,” Francis said. “I want that because I want my name to go down in school history and in conference history.”
Freshman Chika Iwuamadi is ranked third in the conference in the 400 meters. Joining Francis and Iwuamadi for the sprinters will be Ashton Woods and Madison Pyle to compete in the 4×400 relay. The pair will also appear in the 400 hurdles and are currently in the top six in the conference.
“Conference is special because it is a time the whole team comes together,” Woods said. “We all back each other up to see what we can all accomplish.”
Many more of their teammates will join them at the conference meet and are highly ranked in the conference. The results of the meet will be tweeted out as they happen at @SMUTrackFieldXC. A live stream will also be available and the link will be provided on the SMU Track and Field Twitter page.
