The opening night of “Machinal,” a true-crime play performed by the SMU Meadows School of the Arts, will be on Wednesday, Dec. 4th at 8 p.m. The play, written by Sophie Treadwell and directed by Blake Hackler, is based on the story of Ruth Snyder, who was the first woman to be executed for murder in New York.

Integrated into the opening night is Studio Projects, a new type of event at Meadows. Studio Project events invite audiences to learn about how the department prepares for their plays, including actors, costumes, and stage building. Tickets for the event are 14 for adults, $11 for seniors, and $8 for students, faculty, and staff.

Machinal runs until Sunday, December 8th. The event is located in the Margo Jones Theatre in the Owen Arts Center. Click here for more information or to purchase tickets!
