An SMU football player is claiming to be the recipient of a racist message.
Kevin Thomas, a junior receiver for the Mustangs, posted a screenshot on Twitter Monday of a direct message he said he received on Instagram. The message contained multiple racial slurs.
“What I’m dealing with here at @SMU,” Thomas tweeted.
Kevin, the language in this message is reprehensible. However, no one at SMU matches the name of the sender. If you would like to talk with anyone about this message, please contact the Dean of Student Life office.

SMU replied to Thomas’ tweet, saying that the alleged sender, Katharine Allen, was not a student at the university.
The Instagram account appears to be fake.
The account was posing as a member of Tri Delta, but several of the sorority’s members said that no one named Katharine Allen belonged to the sorority.
One further said that the images on the account appeared to have been pulled off of the internet.
Thomas has yet to comment on the matter, outside of the Twitter post.
