Jazmin Darjean and Owen Bartosh to lead the 113th SMU Student Senate

Election results for the 113th Student Senate are announced.

Jazmin Darjean will serve as student body president and Owen Bartosh as student body vice president in the 113th SMU Student Senate.

Editor’s Note: This article has been updated to correct Darjean’s voting percentages. The “No Vote” and “did not answer” figures were previously flipped; the correct figures are 10.3% and 16.9%, respectively.

The 2026 Student Body Officer election results were announced on Thursday, April 9. Voting closed on April 8 at 12:00 p.m. While three candidates ran unopposed, this race marks the first SMU race with voter transparency.

For the first time ever, the exact percentage of how many votes each candidate received was published to @smusenate on Instagram. While some senate seats are still vacant, all filled positions are listed.

The new student body officers for the 113th Student Senate will be sworn in on April 21 at 4:30 p.m. in Dallas Hall.
