The Black Police Association of Greater Dallas has begun a public feud against The Dallas Morning News and its longtime criminal justice reporter Tanya Eiserer after Eiserer used the words “c–k sucker” and “asshole” after being denied what she thought was an exclusive interview with Dallas Police Chief David Brown.
The BPA is accusing the reporter of racism over the comments, and has called for the DMN to fire her. They have also requested “mandatory and documented anti-racism training” at the newspaper, and for the paper to hire “representative numbers” of minority reporters.
The Dallas Observer reports DMN editor Bob Mong was “surprised” the incident was being referred to as racist and the paper was doing more to hire minorities to address “the growing racial and ethnic diversity in the market.”
