SMU will host the fall semester Study Abroad Fair on Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Owen Arts Center Lobby. Students will have the opportunity to engage with representatives from some of the 148 programs and inquire about studying in 50 countries.
“Students should attend the study abroad fair to be able to understand all the options they have. Studying abroad is a big decision and doing a lot of research is necessary,” according to a current study abroad applicant.
With so many options at students fingertips, finding a program and region that best fits one’s interests, degree requirements and language preference is critical. Attending this fair will serve as the catalyst and point students in the right direction.
The decision to study abroad, and where, enables students to immerse themselves in a new region and culture with different learning practices and objectives. Studying on a campus much unlike SMU and even in a foreign language will serve as an exciting challenge and growing experience.
“Going abroad is about challenging yourself, living outside your comfort zone, and being adventurous,” said SMU senior Annie Kelly.
The abroad programs offered to students go well beyond enriching students’ education to include: internship, service, research and volunteer opportunities.
