The SMU men’s soccer team’s NCAA Tournament run came to an end Saturday as it lost to No. 7 North Carolina 2-0. The Mustangs finish their season 17-3-1.
SMU defeated Central Arkansas and upset Georgetown last weekend to set up the matchup with UNC.
The Mustangs kept the game scoreless through the first half until the Tar Heels broke through with the go-ahead goal in the 50th minute. The second goal came in the 83rd minute.
UNC outshot SMU 9-5 on the game, and only one of the Mustangs’ shots was on goal. Goalkeeper Michael Nelson saved four shots in the game.
