‘Babel’ and ‘Dreamgirls’ win big at Golden Globes

The 64th annual Golden Globes were held Monday night and telecast live on NBC from the Beverly Hilton.

The Golden Globe Awards, which honor motion pictures and television programs, have been held since 1944 by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), and are a major part of the entertainment industry’s awards season.

Notable occurrences in this year’s show include the addition of the Best Animated Feature category, and the presentation of the Cecil B. DeMille award (which recognizes outstanding contributions to the entertainment industry) to Warren Beatty.

Highlights of the show included Justin Timberlake’s acceptance for Prince, and America Ferrera bringing the audience to tears.

While the Golden Globes are more or less like the Academy Awards’ less classy (but more fun) sister, they tend to set the tone for awards season and provide an insight into who might go home clutching an Oscar in February.
