If you attended NorthPark Center’s, Fall 2008 Fashion at the Park, you would have spotted a man of short stature parading around a bombshell-blonde model – of not-so-short stature – decked out in a full-length, form-fitting, crimson red evening gown. They were a stunning trio, as the dress itself commanded its own level of attention.
That man with the stunning model was Oscar Fierro: A Dallas-based designer who is launching first boutique in Mockingbird Station. The boutique promotes clothes with a trendy edge at affordable prices, and with the state of today’s economy, Fierro’s philosophy on style, dressing and glamour could not come at a better time.
“I think people should be able to look great and expensive without spending a lot of money,” said Fierro as he showed off his two-story boutique with pride.
While Fierro’s business has already begun to boom among Dallas partygoers, media and pageant women.
Fierro’s love of fashion and all things beautiful began with his interest in pageants. Many of Fierro’s clients include pageant participants and his boutique reflects his ability to provide women with a head-to-toe look.
When developing his line of ready-to-wear apparel, Fierro kept the glamour of pageant dressing in mind. From flirty sundresses designed to make a woman feel sexy, to the perfect going-out top, Fierro’s clothes are attention getting without being too flashy or sacrificing class.
The price point of Fierro’s line is also a force to be reckoned with. Most of his dresses (cocktail and daytime) range from $30-$60. Fierro’s formal wear, which is perfect for black-tie occasions, is priced reasonably from $400-$1,000.
The boutique is located next to Café Express and Ann Taylor Loft in Mockingbird Station. It includes the women’s boutique on the first level, a customer lounge in the back and a men’s boutique upstairs. Fierro also plans to sell make-up and other cosmetic products making one-stop shopping possible.
Fierro has big dreams and hopes to show in the Bryant Park tents at New York Fashion Week within the next year. His belief in Dallas as a fashion capital sparked his interest in opening his first boutique here.
“I think Dallas really needs me,” said Fierro. “But I really need Dallas too.”
Fierro is planning the boutique’s red carpet, grand opening event for July. It will coincide with the finale of an Oscar Fierro model runway competition. The winner of the competition will receive a one-year modeling contract with Fierro. All fresh faces are encouraged to apply at: oscarfierro.com. No modeling experience is necessary.
