What do overpriced commercials, Budweiser Clydesdales, Janet Jackson’s boob and halftime shows bring to mind?
If you’re thinking Easter, well, you’re just plain wrong. It’s the all-American tradition called Super Bowl Sunday!
Yes people, it’s that time of year again – time for Americans to gorge themselves on wings, chips and finger-food.
More likely than not, you’re going to a party (even if it’s just to watch the commercials).
Ed Board is here to give you tips on how to throw the best Super Bowl party ever.
First things first, put on your favorite team’s jersey and start decorating. And by decorating, we mean get out the football cupcakes, the streamers, the silly string and the chips and dip. Maybe order a few pizzas or some wings. Don’t forget to stock up on extras – you never know who’s going to stop by.
After you’ve got that nailed down, you’ll need to make sure everyone has a place to sit. Floor cushions and fold-up chairs will make good last-minute additions to your living room. And be sure not to put the food too far away from where everyone’s sitting – it’s annoying and awkward when people are reaching around or getting up to go get food. Make it accessible.
Stock up on plastic-ware, napkins, paper plates and cups. That way you won’t have as much cleaning up to do when the party’s over.
There is nothing, and we repeat nothing, wrong with asking your guests to bring something, whether it be food or beverages. You are not responsible for feeding your friends.
Guests – the polite thing to do is ask your the host what you can bring to contribute to the party.
Then there’s the alcohol. Make sure you have enough for your (of age) guests, but you also need to be a good friend and keep an eye on them; the best way to ruin a party is for someone to get a DUI or, worse, be involved in an alcohol-related crash.
Please drink responsibly folks.
Ed Board wishes you good food, fun, friends and healthy competition on Super Bowl Sunday.
